Macon, GA - After holding league leader Salem to just one first half goal, the Wesleyan College soccer team wore down and ultimately fell to the Spirits 6-0 on Sunday afternoon.

  • Wesleyan held Salem scoreless for the first 41 minutes but gave up a goal just before halftime. The Wolves simply ran out of steam after the break and couldn't stop the relentless Spirit offense in the second half.
  • Freshman Carlee Dykes returned to the goal for Wesleyan after sitting out the past several games with an injury and recorded 12 saves in her 63 minutes of action before Alyssa Whitford finished out the game in goal for the Wolves.

"Despite our tough season that has been wrought with injuries, this team has been such an inspiration to me," stated Wesleyan head coach Paige Hightower. "We knew the two game format of playing on back to back days would be tough for us this season, so after playing a man down yesterday, we simply had nothing left in the tank today. However, these girls continue to support one another and have always held their heads high. Hopefully we can get a few players healthy over the next week so we can have a strong showing down the stretch."
