Macon, GA - Once again battling illness and injury, the Wesleyan College soccer team dropped a USA South conference match to Piedmont College by a score of 4-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Wolves were forced to play a man down for more than half of the game, forcing them to pack it in on defense and surrendering two goals per half.

Notables:

  • Senior Alyssa Whitford stepped in at goalkeeper once again today, racking up 24 saves for the Wolves.
  • On this day 22 years ago, the world welcomed little Mylee Connor. Today, she's all grown up and married, and Wesleyan is happy to celebrate another birthday with Mrs. Mylee Bowman!

Quotable:

"After giving up 10 goals to Piedmont last game, we wanted to make sure that something like that would not happen again," remarked Wesleyan head coach Paige Hightower. "I was proud of our effort this afternoon, especially considering we played down a man all but 25 minutes of the game. Everyone stepped up, but I'm particularly proud of Alyssa [Whitford], who stepped in once again for injured Carlee Dykes and made some great saves for us in goal."
