Macon, GA - The Wesleyan College soccer team lost a heartbreaker to league leader Covenant College on Friday afternoon, dropping the USA South match up by a score of 2-1.

Notables:

  • Sophomore Kali Havens recorded her first goal of the season in the second half when she had a break away goal.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Carlee Dykes recorded eight saves in the match.
  • Covenant scored the game winning goal in the final two minutes of the match when Riley Battenfield scored on a loose ball from close range.

Quotable:

Wesleyan head coach Paige Hightower remarked, "Getting a goal against Covenant and holding the top ranked team to 2-1 is simply amazing, especially considering we only had two subs in the first half and none in the second compared to their 25 player roster.  We played absolutely amazing defense today and we couldn't be happier with this great accomplishment!"
