Knoxville, TN - Nicholl Perez and Alyssa Whitford provided all the offense the Wesleyan College soccer team needed to pick up its second consecutive win to open the 2016 season. The Wolves defeated Johnson University (TN) 3-0.

  • Nicholl Perez netted two goals, both in the second half, to lead the Wolves offensive attack. Her first was unassisted, but her second came off the boot of sophomore Cat Pribbenow.
  • Senior Alyssa Whitford scored her first goal of the season, the game winner which came in the first half. A goalkeeper in past years, she has proven to be a valuable weapon on offense as a player in the field.
  • The Wolves are off to their best start in over a decade.

Head coach Paige Hightower remarked, "We came out a little flat and had a hard time communicating and connecting passes throughout the first half, but we regrouped at halftime and were able to maintain possession for the majority of the second half. I thought our team really came together and stepped it up as a group as the game progressed, and I'm proud of their effort until the final whistle blew."
