Taking on the role of cross country coach, Alex Kosicki has been tasked with recruiting a team on short notice, but the excitement for the return of cross country amongst existing students on campus is high and there has been a great deal of interest expressed by current athletes and incoming students. "I'm thrilled to be given the opportunity to coach cross country at Wesleyan College," adds Kosicki. "I truly think that by adding cross country back, Wesleyan Athletics is heading in a really great direction. The Athletics Department worked incredibly hard to add another intercollegiate varsity sport to our athletics family, and cross country now has a home at Wesleyan once again. In a day and age where schools are defunding varsity sports at an alarming rate, Wesleyan is adding sports and it's really a special thing to be a part of. I look forward to our women competing in our new conference and hope to see people come out to cheer them on."

Prior to joining the staff at Wesleyan College, Kosicki spent eight and a half years as the Associate Head Coach for both the men's and women's tennis programs at Western New England University in Springfield, MA. In his role, he assisted in all aspects of the program, ranging from on-court instruction and conditioning to recruitment and NCAA complicance.

In addition to coaching tennis, Kosicki also spent the past three seasons coaching basketball at Holyoke Community College in Holyoke, MA. Hired initially to serve as an assistant to Nicki DiMarzio, he took over as head coach for the past two seasons after she became the head coach of Wesleyan's basketball program.

"I hired Alex at Holyoke because of his positive attitude, motivational skills, and work ethic," states DiMarzio. "He was always willing to go above and beyond, and I think he will carry all of those attributes into his role here at Wesleyan. I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to work with Alex again, and I think he will be a great fit with our program."

A 2008 graduate of Springfield College, Kosicki was a four year member of the Pride's varsity tennis program before receiving his B.A. in General Studies with a minor in Business Management and a concentration in Recreation Management.

"It is a great honor to join the coaching staff at Wesleyan College as the new head women's tennis coach and cross country coach," remarked Kosicki. "The college's history and dedication to women's education is truly inspiring. I look forward to meeting the teams and becoming a part of the Wesleyan community."
