Macon, GA - Top-ranked Maryville College used their depth, speed and lockdown defense to defeat Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon by a score of 68-40 in Porter Gymnasium.

Notables:

  • Taylor Thigpen recorded 12 points and Bree Raymond scored 11 to pace the Wolves offense, while Lexie Russell and Justice Thigpen combined for 17 rebounds.
  • Wesleyan showed their fatigue in that they were held to just 24% shooting from the floor, while the Scots converted on 43.5% of their shots and saw five players reach double figures.

Quotable:

"Today, fatigue really set in and hindered our performance," remarked Wesleyan head basketball coach Nicky DiMarzio. "We were tired and struggled to get going offensively. Maryville's length really hurt us and we were unable to get into a rhythm throughout most of the game. We are going to take a few days to recover and get ourselves healthy before kicking off the second round of conference play."
