Marion, AL - After trailing by three at halftime, the Wesleyan College basketball team rebounded with a dominant second half performance to pull away from Judson College and claim a decisive 69-48 road win.

Notables:

  • Lexi Russell recorded her second double-double of the season, scoring a career-high 17 points and pulling down 11 rebounds to go along with two blocks.
  • Sophomore Taylor Thigpen scored a career high 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the floor while dishing out five assists.
  • Senior Justice Thigpen scored six points, pulled down nine boards, dished out six assists and picked up four steals for the Wolves while committing only two turnovers from the point guard position.
  • As a team, Wesleyan shot a season best 37.7% from the field while holding Judson to just 27% shooting.

Quotable:

"After a long holiday break, we've come back refreshed and with a new focus," remarked Wesleyan head coach Nicky DiMarzio. "I've been telling this team we need to stop waiting for the perfect time and make the time we have perfect. Despite giving up the lead at half, we came out firing on all cylinders in the third quarter. Our defense created our offense, we got out on the break, played smart basketball, and finished. Today we didn't take good shots, we took great shots. Offensively we clicked and defensively we were tremendous. This was a great confidence booster heading into conference play, and I think we're ready to compete."
