Mount Berry, GA - The Wesleyan College basketball team ran into a red hot Berry College team on Tuesday night, falling in the season opener to the Vikings by a score of 83-49.

Notables:

  • Junior Kyla Williamson led the Wolves offense with 11 points, while freshman Bree Raymond also netted double digits with 10 points to go along with five rebounds.
  • The Vikings shot an impressive 39.7% from the floor and 40.9% from the 3-point line and outrebounded the Wolves 64-33.

Quotable:

"We came out stagnant defensively against Berry, who we knew was going to hit the offensive boards and run hard in transition," remarked Wesleyan head coach Nicky DiMarzio. "Too many easy early opportunities for them and missed layups for us put us in the hole early. However, in the second half, we were much more competitive but still did not play to our potential.  We played cohesively in the third quarter, which showed on the offensive end. We will learn from this game as we move forward and prepare for Sewanee and Oglethorpe, which will be two tough games coming up for us before the Thanksgiving break."
