(ATLANTA) – Pine Manor College of Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts has accepted an invitation to join the Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC). The Gators become the NCAA Division III league’s seventh active member for the upcoming school year and are immediately eligible to compete for GSAC Championships in each of the six women’s sports the conference sponsors.

“I am thrilled to add Pine Manor as a full-time member of the Great South Athletic Conference,” said GSAC commissioner Joeleen Akin. “Their commitment to fostering athletic competition and cooperation in a highly selective academic atmosphere made them a natural fit for our league.”

A private four-year liberal arts college for women, Pine Manor College (PMC) expresses its mission on the PMC web site to “educate and empower a diverse student body to become accomplished, reflective, and confident leaders – one student at a time.”

Founded in 1999 as a group of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III member institutions, the GSAC member schools bear similar academic and athletic interests. The institutions are located in Alabama (Huntingdon College), Georgia (Agnes Scott College, Covenant College, Spelman College and Wesleyan College), North Carolina (Salem College) and Massachusetts (Pine Manor College).
