Macon, GA - The Wesleyan College volleyball team hosted Fort Valley State University and Toccoa Falls College in a tri-match on Saturday afternoon, falling to both schools by a score of 3-0.

  • Against Fort Valley State, Malae Fiaseu and Sarah Carter led the Wolves with three kills each and combined for 13 of the team's 22 digs.
  • Savanna Gowin paced the Wolves offense with five kills on 14 swings for a .214 hitting percentage in the match against Toccoa Falls, while Peri Staples led the team defensively with 10 digs and two aces.

"In both matches today, we proved that we can play and compete with our opponents," remarked Wesleyan head coach Caroline Carlton. "Unfortunately, we played our best in the final sets of both matches and ran out of time. We are young and learning, but we have to work to start our matches just as well as we finish them."

"Fort Valley and Toccoa Falls were great matchups for us today despite the fact that we came up short. Today we found a lineup that meshed better, but we just need to push for more consistency. We begin conference play next week and these matches today helped prepare us to compete in the coming weeks."
