Decatur, GA - Hollins University and Agnes Scott College played the spoiler on Saturday afternoon when both teams shut out the Wesleyan College volleyball team in their 2016 debut. With only one returner from last season on the roster, the Wolves began the search to develop its identity on the court.

  • Seven Wesleyan athletes made their collegiate volleyball debut vs. Hollins on Saturday afternoon.
  • Freshman Nadia Hernandez, a 6-0 middle blocker from Richmond Hill, GA, recorded four kills on eight attempts with only one error, giving her a hitting percentage of .375 for the day.
  • Freshman DS Savanna Gowin set the tone defensivley for the Wolves with 15 digs on the day.

"Today gave us a good indication of where we are and what we need to do to improve and prepare for conference play," stated Wesleyan head coach Caroline Carlton. "We worked through some new lineups and tried a variety of things in order to find our most successful unit on the court. We still have plenty of work to do, but I am confident we will improve greatly over the course of the season."
