Paige Hightower

The Wesleyan College Athletics Department proudly announces Paige Hightower as its new head soccer coach.  After conducting a comprehensive, nationwide search following the departure of Ciaran Traquair to Anderson University, Athletics Director Patty Gibbs chose Hightower for her depth of experience in coaching and for the immediate connection that she established with the Wesleyan coaching staff and players.

"After a lot of thought, we feel that we have found the right candidate for our position," stated Gibbs.  "Paige's enthusiasm and energy are contagious.  Our goal for Wesleyan soccer is to win the GSAC conference title and she is the coach to take our team to that level.  She is taking over a healthy program and will be able to advance their level of play in a direction we have been building towards over the last two seasons."

Hightower has most recently served on the coaching staff at Mercer University, serving as a volunteer assistant whose focus was primarily in serving as the goalkeeper coach.  In 2012, goalkeeper Maggie Crop was ranked first in the nation for Goals Against Average and Save Percentage under Hightower's instruction and the Bears advanced to the A-Sun finals before falling to champions Florida Gulf Coast University in overtime.

In addition to her work at Mercer, Hightower has been the Head Goalkeeper Coach for the Macon Soccer Club for the past two seasons, serving as the primary goalkeeper coach for all teams, ages and genders.  Prior to that, she founded and served as the Director of Coaching for the Chaos Soccer Club in Pickens County, GA, while also serving as the Girls JV and Varsity soccer coach at Pickens County High School.

Hightower played one season of soccer at the University of Alabama before the program was temporarily cut from the athletic department.  She went on to coach club teams at both Southwest Texas State University and Sam Houston State Unviersity before gettting her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Emory University.  Professionally, she holds the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and NSCAA Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma certifications

"I want to thank Patty Gibbs and the athletic department for giving me this exciting opportunity," remarked Hightower.  "I can't wait to begin a new era of Wolves soccer and create a culture of competitiveness while fostering the team environment. I'm looking forward to getting started with the current players and assuring any future players that Wesleyan College women's soccer is a program to keep an eye on as we look to be competitive in the Great South Athletic Conference and beyond."
